How to treat an ingrown nail?
Many women and men from all around the world suffer from paronychia (an infection of the skin around a fingernail or toenail) or from ingrown toenails. There are a number of risk factors that may predispose a person to having an ingrown toenail:
• foot or toe deformities,
• cutting your toenails too short or not straight across,
• improper shoe gear that is too small or tight.
You can either undertake a surgical removal of either part of the nail or the whole nail and drainage of the abscess will be needed, or you can try our non-surgical, non-invasive approaches:
- orthonyxia (toenail brace, B/S spange),
- nail tamponade
- protection of sulcus.
Ingrown Toenail Braces
We have several brace types: they are typically made out of a special spring wire (stainless steel), out of a plastic compound (B/S spange) or made out of a combination of those. The advantages of orthonyxia over traditional ingrown toenail surgical methods are: convenience, no pain, no recovery, much lower cost, no disfigurement from permanent removal of the side of your toenail.
Nail Tamponade
Nail tamponade is an ideal method for adjusting your nail edges. It is one of the easiest non-invasive methods, during which a gauze fabric – that it is rolled up into a small roll – is pushed carefully between the nail and nail wall.NEW! Protection of Sulcus
This method is another non-surgical method that can substitute other more invasive surgical methods, particularly in the early stages of this disease. It includes the plastic tube insertion technique in patients with ingrown toenail. Thanks to its low recurrence rate and its simple application, this method is seen as an effective, non-invasive treatment of ingrown nails.Ingrown toenail treatments - take advantage of our free consultation with our podiatrist!
